Lake Tekapo

Summer is still with us in the south. Our temperatures at home have been between 26 and 32 degrees the weather station tells us - (but you know, now I've said that, I've probably jinxed it and the cold weather will hit!) With me babysitting a couple of days last week, there were a few walks to the park complete with finding treasure (you know, like pine cones and fairies) on our walks. I love that a friend of my friends who have just shifted down, was comfortable enough to leave one of her kids with me (or maybe she was desperate lol!). Two wee girls of three and four pose no problems when you're used to forty five of them lol.

I also spent a day out looking at curtains with my friend Chrissie - you know what it's like when you shift into a new house, it doesn't take long before you want to put your stamp on it, and shopping is much more fun with a friend. So on Friday I had all good intentions to finish a couple of layouts I'd started (once I'd finished the groceries that is) but...it was just too nice of a day, so the dogs and I headed to the beach and it was blissful.

With no visitors this weekend, Lyall and I headed off to Lake Tekapo on Saturday morning in the hope of visitng Mt John Observatory. Unfortunately it was just too cloudy for any viewing at night, but we did a drive up during the day and got a great view of the surrounding area. It was just nice to leisurley drive down, meandering through some little towns, stopping to check out shops here and there, stopping to take photos here and there...We will head back there at some point as we still want to head up to the observatory, and if the Southern Lights could make an appearance as well, then I would be extremely grateful lol. If you have any pull in this area, please put in a good word for me LOL.

Enjoy your week.

Awesome photos! I love Lake Tekapo and it has a special spot in our hearts as we went there on our honeymoon (which was my first ever trip to the South Island). We've also had lovely warm weather although not quite as hot as you guys! :-)

I think you need to send that nice weather a little further South ... I'm sick of seeing those sorts of nice warm temps while it has been cold and miserable down our way ... not fair ... sulking !!!
