One more day till September!

Some days a girl just needs a delicious bacon buttie  from the local Farmers Market.  Today was that day :-)  Well, it was a good excuse to take the dogs to the river for a run, and then onto the dog park.  Yep, they are tuckered out now.  And following the said bacon buttie, Lyall decided he needed a Bee Sting.  If you don't know what that is, it's a kind of a sweet pastry, danish type pastry, that is filled with custard/cream.  Not my thing, but he loves them.  It did look good mind you, even if I don't like the whole cream thing lol.

Another layout done and dusted.  This time I had a play with my gelato's.  I know I need to learn to blend them far better.  For a first try, I'm happy with it..  Happy playing with the Cameo as well.  Totally looking forward to catching up with my friends for a girls weekend in Kaikoura in three weeks.  Brenda is giving us a few lessons on the Cameo, so that will be great.  That's in between the shopping, laughing, sightseeing, creating and eating...

Have now booked for Autumn Escape in Taupo next April.  What a road trip that will be...Vicki, Brenda, Elaine and I.  Now that's going to be awesome.

I feel so lucky and blessed to be able to do these things, with such wonderful people.

Well I have a sickly sister at the moment.  Full of a head cold/flu type thing.  So I've made her bed up with clean sheets etc and now I've got to go and cook her some fish and mashed potato for dinner.  She hasn't really eaten since Friday, just a few crackers and lemonade.  You know what it's like, you  know you have to eat but nothing appeals and you don't really feel like it anyway.  So best I head off and do that.

This week...

On the weekend I look after my neighbour's horses  and cat.  In the mornings I head on over and put the ponies into a new paddock for the day (they aren't allowed too much grass, because if they get too fat they'll end up foundering, which is kind of like really sore feet that keep causing problems).  In the afternoon I make up their hard feed (kind of like museli and porridge), feed them and put them back in their other paddock.

 I also feed Clydie cat and give her lots of snuggles.  She is a barn cat.  She is free to roam the farm and has a little cat door into a big warm barn where she has ad lib biscuits, water, the radio going and lots of different snuggly places to sleep.  She has always been a little wild and she doesn't like new people.  She greets you with a hiss before deciding to smooch :-)  However as the bearer of food, she rather likes me lol.

 Here are some of my critters that don't always feature on here very often.  Tui my cat, who is a little disgusted that I would choose to wake her by making noise when taking a photo.  Possibly her nights sleep was disturbed by me moving my legs or something, hence the need to find a sunny spot and sleep most of the day away :-)  The chickens, well they are just on bug duty.  Wandering around, finding worms etc to eat, looking lovely and fluffy in their winter feathers. 

And the big guy is one of our steers.  His name is Cooper and I have a real soft spot for him.  Lyall and I often discuss the fact that he is not going to end up in the freezer...A friend of our's often puts his two cents worth in saying they thought the same with one of their cows 'White Face', but in the end he became too lame to keep healthy so he did end up in the freezer.  And if that or a similar fate is what happens then so be it, but until then, this big guy is living the life of Riley here.

 

 This is a layout I did a few weeks ago, and it just needed something else.  Lucky for me, Vicki gave me the something else and with the adding of those two little wooden hearts I could call it finished.  Great way to use up those half sheets of October Afternoon labels.

 

 

The season's are changing and with that comes the time to tidy up the vege gardens and start planting for a bountiful summer crop.  Last week I weeded them and this week Lyall filled them up with compost, and we brought just a few punnets to get things started.  He had quite an audience when he was doing this...possibly as we often throw the cows silverbeet etc from the vege gardens over winter and they may well have been hoping that this would happen today :-)

Dog show

I know...I've been pretty slack on the old blogging of late.  And yes Dad has reminded me of that...

Life has been it's usual busy self, but it's generally the day to day kind of stuff that I wonder if you are interested in really reading about. 

I am still scrapbooking, and it's the good old fashioned 12 x 12 layouts.  The shock, the horror :-)

And I'm gradually working through those photos that you know you are never going to actually end up putting on a layout, so those are going into project life type albums, with the cards being used to tell the story of the photo.

This weekend has been a stunner weather wise.  I've been sorting out the vege gardens, ready to put in new seedlings with Spring only a few weeks away. 

Today we headed off to a local dog show.  It was one of those just for fun set ups and they had a great turnout of people with their dogs, which was fantastic.  Hard to believe but Darcy won the 'Calmest Dog'  which is pretty funny, because out of our three, she is the least calmest!  She does 'rest' on command though, so in the show ring I just got her to do that, and there you go, it worked!  We also got highly commended in another class.  Danny got third in one of his classes, and we didn't enter Archie in any as Lyall would have been his handler and thought it would be too boring, so they spent the day at home together.

 Just a shot of some of the crowd.  Love that all the dogs were happy, no fights, and they split the rings into big dogs, medium dogs and small dogs.

This was a photo at home, but shows my calm girl...she looks calm, but in reality she is lying with the duck so no one else can get it lol.
