It's nearly October!

It's been a busy but productive week. I'm back into scrapping full force - another layouts done and dusted and emailed off to where it needs to be. Once it's been shown there, then it will make it onto here. And Vicki I've taken up your dare, and the one on my table is for the sketch you have put up, as guest designer over at Scrapbook Dreams :-)

We held our annual kindergarten disco on Friday night, which was once again a success. When talking with the kids about what they were going to wear (lots of superheroes and a sea of pink fairies and princesses lol) they told me I should wear a skirt or a dress. I own one skirt and thanks to the cruise earlier this year - three dresses - sun dresses. Skirt it was lol. With a skirt, high heels needed to be worn. The old body isn't used to heels and the calf muscles have complained :-) However it was all worth it to hear the cute 'you look beautiful Trace' comments lol.

Saturday it was off to First Aid. We have to do a refresher every two years. After twenty years of doing them, they are still interesting, however I'm glad it's just a day, and it's done and dusted for anothe couple of years.

On the home front we now have this on our section...

Donna was a little suprised at how little it looked, but Lyall explained this is just the footings and once the pad is poured it'll look a bit bigger and once the framings done bigger again. Add on a porch, decks etc and it starts to take a bit more shape.

A couple of weeks ago I was contacted by bird rescue to see if I would take on baby ducklings this year, so this weekend has seen us out picking up a couple of rabbit hutches - it was cheaper to buy them off trade me than for Lyall to build them. Having reared Grace last year, I've a far better idea of what I think will work, so we have two inside (the garage that is) cages, with hotties and towels, for when they are tiny ducklings, followed by a hutch outside for when they have waterproof feathers but are still little enough to get taken by falcons etc. Once they are big enough they can just go in the paddock with a couple of shelters and will self release when they are ready. They will not go in my bath this year LOL.

Lyall has made a couple of these - guess the chickens will use them till the ducks come along.


We often have balloons flying over/around but it's not that often you see two close together. Donna wondered if the AB'S were having a tiki tour, so I had to get a photo just in case ;-)

I have finished that layout that was half finished last week, and am about to upload it to Scrapbox, so can't show you for another week or so. Have started on another one, am most impressed with myself :-))))

As I updated Project Life today, I looked and thought about how we are rapidly heading towards the end of the year. One side of the album is much fuller than the other!

Am I doing it next year? Nope. I really have enjoyed project life, but there are weeks where I really struggle to find something to capture. If I did it next year, I think I would be put off it and find it a drag, and I don't want that to happen. And anyway next year is going to be really quiet, no earthquakes, snowstorms, floods,etc LOL.

Just had to put this photo up...the kids have had a big run around at the beach this morning, so have all found a place in the sun, for a wee nana nap. She's so cute :-)

Yep, spring is here

After my few scrapping purchases last weekend, I've actually managed half a layout. Yes, that's right, one week, and half a layout. Sad huh! Oh well, in another week, I might have completed the whole layout :-)

We all know Spring is here, but I had to get a few photos to record it, just because they are such typical Spring images.

My cousin's in laws live out in a suburb of Christchurch, called Halswell, and we shot out there today to eat scones and drink coffee (or water in my case lol), and to pick up some tree seedlings they were kindly giving us. While we were out there we took the dogs to Halswell Quarry for a run round. Last time Vicki and I were there, it was very quiet and a place we didn't think we'd visit too often. However this morning it was so busy and the dogs had an absolute blast. They are suitably tuckered out now - here's my Darcy girl trying to lap up some sun and drop off to sleep in her bed, but her blasted Mum has the camera out!

While we were there the topic of earthquakes came up - as it often does in this part of the country lol. Then a good aftershock hit. Now we want to know, if we talk about winning Lotto, will that happen too???? ;-)

Speaking of Lotto, the winning wheel ticket was brought in our little town of Rangiora. Wasn't us. Hope whomever spins that wheel next week, gets just a little bit more luck :-)

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day Dad - this lot in the photo love you, you know.

So I've been stuck in bed since last Friday (hence no blog post last Sunday), with what was initially a sinus infection which then decided that wasn't enough and would add on a chest infection as well. However a week and a half on, a good whacking dose of antibiotics and I'm back at work, up and about and feeling human again. Kindergarten teacher's (like teachers everywhere and nurses!) get a pretty darn good immunity because they are often around germs, however every once in a while you get got. I got good lol. This term has just been one of those terms, where if there was something going around then I got it - and because I didn't do anything about the little bits of illness, my immunity was down and I got something just a bit more powerful. However being home sick meant my lovley twinnie came out for a visit and brought me a mag to read. And you know how much I love mags LOL.

Yesterday I headed off to Scrappin Patch. It's not that I need more stash, but I wanted some new stuff to motivate me into my scrapping room. With being sick and with these beautiful spring days, I have been a bit slack in the creativity department, so am hoping a few new goodies will be just the oompphh I need. I'm also on the lookout for a really decent light as I find it too hard to work in there at night. I checked out Spotlight today but at three hundred a pop the light is staying there - it may come home if I decide it really is the best one for the job, but at the moment I haven't researched it enough to warrant that cost.
