The weekends adventures

Hmm I wrote this whole post yesterday and then hit publish and up came an error message, so here goes again.

For those who don't know I had the lovely Beverley and Janine down for the annual Swannanoa Retreat lol. This retreat involved much shopping. So much shopping that it is also involving a courier company! I'm guessing the plane might not have managed to get off the tarmac if not lol.

The girls arrived Friday night and we hit the spa in the hope of a great nights sleep before off shopping on Saturday. Well that worked for Janine - she had the bedroom furtherest away from my husbands snoring. Unfortunately I didn't have much choice it was the couch or share a bed with him, so sleep eluded me for much of the night (throw in getting up to the cat and dog...) and Beverley had the room next to ours so she was fortunate that she got his snoring as well. Sorry about that Beverley lol.

Saturday we shot up to Pukeko Junction for breakfast, (after a quick walk on the beach, while we waited for it to open). Thanks Mrs Frizz and Vicki for this suggestion. We then waddled back to the car and headed off to the hub of all great shopping which is Kaiapoi - well we thought it was good, even if a couple of fellow Cantabrians who shall remain nameless, mocked us for our choice of suburb lol.

Treasures were found in pretty much all the places we stopped, and we ended the day by catching up with the nameless mockers - or Vicki and Heidi lol. Neat little gift shop with gorgeous stuff that you need to win lotto to purchase from - lovely to look at but the stayed in the shop...We had a bit of afternoon tea and headed off to the Casino, or they did, while I went round and round finding a car park. Now the Casino...we had a need to go there... Lets just say we don't get out enough people because we were quite amazed to find hair straighteners in the ladies bathroom, and considering the average age of a woman in the casino looked to be about sixty five we did question the necessity of these, but then I'm guessing the other vending machine thingee's you get in the woman's bathrooms in places wouldn't be much handy either lol. In hindsight it would have been good to have caught up with Vicki and Heidi for dinner or something as the time went way to fast and afternoon tea was at two different tables so made for difficulty catching up. Still better to have met than not at all. Even if they don't like Kaiapoi lol.

We ended the day with a walk round the botanic gardens, along with a much needed gelato before heading home for a relaxing spa. Saturday night we all slept like logs. We may well have snored, but my DH didn't so all was good in our world.

Sunday we headed off to Riccarton market, and of course more was purchased and after a lovely morning there, we shot one suburb over, to Dress Mart and the odd thing was brought there too. Now that's what you call a girls weekend lol.

Being the lovely ladies they are, they came bearing much appreciated gifts, hence the photos...and they have now gone home to recover and one of them will be waiting by her door for a kind courier person to arrive - will send it off tomorrow that person lol, since I worked today. And because my puppy is ever so cute and one day won't be a cute puppy, no post is complete without a photo of her lol.

Enjoy your week people

Speaking as one of the nameless ones I can think of better ways to describe Kaiapoi than as the hub of shopping. ROFL. Sure was a girlie weekend with all that shopping and hmmm no guesses really as to who needed the courier!!! ROFL.

sssssh Vicki, Bev didn't want people to know about the courier lol. OKay so my story is that I bought the smallest suitcase with me instead of the big one....and I thought Kaiapoi rocked lol....

I had a blast, Trace you were a great hostess and thanks to Lyall and Donna and Danny and Darcy and Tui for putting up with me.

The retreat was wonderful and I went back to work for a rest lol. The cafe in chch wasn't ideal for our group catch up....but it was still neat to meet H and V.

The casino story still makes me laugh. Am saving for a winter trip, I like the road trip idea.

BTW love that paint holder, so glad you bought something.....

What do you mean annual ... I was planning for bi-annual or maybe even quarterly! The Swannanoa Retreat comes highly recommended ... and honestly it wasn't the snoring that kept me awake. Your stand looks stunning with the paints on it ... so glad you could give it a good home.

What a fab weekend, now there's a change of career if ever you want one Trace's Tremendous Treatment Time! Shopping and cuties all part of the service. Lol

I'm looking at your lovely green lawns and can't wait for the weather to change over here, you wouldn't believe what the rugby pitch was like on Saturday, it was more like mud wrestling :0)

The pups are sooo cute still, I bet they get away with anything.

Kx
