A sad day.

Well old age caught up with our Milo dog this afternoon. He's no longer with us having been euthanaised at about 5.20pm this afternoon. We had thought is arthritis was getting progessively worse (remembering he had another couple of degenerative diseases as well), but our wonderful vet, Leon, took one look at his eyes (and Milo was only up at the vets yesterday, so we are talking quick) and said that he has Vestibular Disease, which obviously affects balance and co-ordination. Sometimes with a lot of nursing it improves, sometimes with a lot of nursing it doesn't improve. With having a parlysed larynx, osteo arthritis, podderdermatitis and on a cacophony of drugs we made the decision to not let him suffer any longer. Leon came out to car, which was Milo's favourite place, and with Lyall holding him on one side, me on the other and my sister looking on he slipped away from this Earth.

Rest in peace our son.

Milo was obviously a much loved fur-baby, and he left this earth surrounded by those who cared most for him.

hugs Trace

I hope this poem gives you some comfort...

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Hi Trace

I'm sad to hear that Milo had to go. You did the most caring thing for him. Really, really empathise with you at the moment, as you know, we had to make this decision with our Robbie last year.

Think of you. Be extra gentle on yourself. I hope you can take time off work if you need to. xxxS

Oh, Trace, my thoughts are with you - it's never an easy choice, but when you're seeing your best mate suffer you know it's right. We had this not long ago with our old girl, she'd suffered a stroke & it affected her quite badly! Much love to you all.

Oh, Trace, I'm so so sorry. It's so hard to say goodbye to a beloved pet; they become family, don't they? And it's so difficult when you have to make the decision. Thinking of you, lots of love.
