Okay so how spoilt are we? Lyall was home from work on Tuesday and our neighbour a couple of houses down came up and said "I've got something for you, now if you don't want it I totally understand, but I don't need it anymore and I would love for you two to have it...". So off Lyall went with Colleen...and lo and behold it's that thing above! Yep, we are the proud new owners of a ride on lawnmower - yes, it goes well, and has truly had one old lady owner! (In her eighties she's now getting a company into do the lawns so no longer needs it). Boy oh boy was Lyall doing the happy dance! Of course we offered to pay for it, but she won't hear of that, so between you and me, we are going to shout her down to stay with us one weekend once we've got ourselves sorted - we know that's something she'll love .
The kids at work have been asking heaps of questions about the snow and animals lol. We have a mascot at kindergarten - he's a soft toy gorilla called 'George'. So George is coming to help me shift and I'll write a story about him and my new house etc and then send him back with my Dad - it's a really neat way to help the kids understand as it's so visual. George has a turn of going home to everybody's house during their time at morning kindergarten, and they take photos and write a story - some are hilarious. He's a well travelled ape -having done a few trips to Oz, one to Dubai and a few of the Pacific Islands as well!
Enjoy your last day of the working week and have a fun weekend!

Wow! ... thats a fantastic gift ... and your idea of shouting her a trip down to CHcH is a great one!! ... better get some lawn quick smart!!LOL
Well done you, you'll have great fun on that ride on! I'm sure your neighbour will love her visit to you, that's a really lovely gesture.
What a wonderful idea with George! I can see it's something the kids can really relate to. Just make sure he pulls his weight with the moving LoL
Oh WOW, Trace, that is such a generous gesture! Yep, your idea of giving her a trip to visit you once you've settled on the Mainland sounds perfect.
A women from my parents church, when her hubby died, she wanted to give Dad his practically brand new mobility scooter (Dad had Parkinson's Disease) and wouldn't take no for an answer, nor their offer to reimburse her with $$$
Dad only had it for a few months before he died, but it made such a huge difference to his final months, I will NEVER forge that woman and her act of kindness/generosity.
When Dad died Mum found someone who needed one and would never be able to afford one themselves, so another person's life was changed for the better.
I love hearing warm fuzzy stories like you have shared with us today, and I believe her gesture is a reflection on the lovely people you and your hubby must be.
That is an AMAZING gift - can just see Lyall out there zooming around on it lol!!
Wow! How cool is that? You might be fighting him for a chance to mow the lawns!
Hope all your packing goes well & George behaves himself....Riley has a big pink gorilla called Camilla and the two of them get up to a lot of naughtiness!
wow - a new toy for Lyall to play with ... Hope he puts it to good use. No speeding tickets now!!!
Man you've got really nice neighbours!
Wahoooooooo I bet Lyall is super stoked, what a nice thing, and what a great idea about shouting her a trip
