I have returned...After a great drive up and a fab trip back down, I'm home and pleased to see my family including the fur kids lol.
I caught up with lots of family, friends, old workmates and gossip. I loved the train trips back down and would do that again in a blink of an eye. The Tranz Coastal (from Picton to Christchurch) is wonderful. Hard to believe but both trains, and the ferry crossing back to the South Island were all full. Who would have thought that on just a normal Sunday/Monday there would be so many people using these modes of transport. The majority were tourists (I thought there may be a few who were in Welly for the Seven's - but it didn't appear to be the case).
My time in Auckland I stayed at Dad's house and had the use of my brother's car, so toddled around and about which was great. Thanks Dad and Pat for the hotel room lol. The wonderful Janine, Mike and Coco put me up (or should that be put up with me??!!) on Sunday night in Wellington and as they were my taxi service too they brought Beverley for a drive and I was able to catch up with her as well. The wonderful Janine has also gifted me some scrapping books she no longer wants...well you know me and books...it would be close to the highlight of my week!! Thanks guys for your wonderful hospitality - look forward to your visit down here in a couple of weeks.
Both ferry crossings were flat as pancakes and I spent my time catching up on all the hollywood gossip thanks to a selection of old New Ideas, Womans Days etc - which is great because then you can leave them behind on the boat/train and somebody else will make use of them. Nope, I didn't buy them, my Stepmum and MIL gave them to me to read. Of course I did venture out onto the deck to take photos the odd time too!
So now I'm off to Harvey Norman to get a few photos printed - I need to update my Project Life album from this last week and of course get a few printed to sit there until I need them for a layout...

Sounds like you had a great trip, Trace. Next time stay a little longer so the scrappy crowd round this joint can throw some kind of shin-dig!! LOL - there's always calls on your time when you're travelling through isn't there?!
Glad you made it home safely ... it was nice to catch up even if it was so briefly ... am looking forward to catching up for longer in a couple of weeks. Oooh and starting to wonder if maybe we should have done the train thing instead of flying ... but then I guess we'd need longer than a weekend for that.
