Except the summer weather looked like this....
We'd decided to head over to Greymouth and Punakaiki for a day or two. We left sunny, but windy Christchurch and as we crossed the divide, the weather changed and it was wet and wild.
However, as we headed into Shantytown, the sun came out and we spent a lovely four or so hours wandering around, taking photos, watching the cute wekas etc.
Aren't those brothers alike? And yep, it was ice cream weather (well actually I don't think Lyall needs an excuse for it to be ice cream weather!)

Not having bush around us here, I had to have a wee play when we were walking through the bush to the Pancake Rocks.
So after a couple of lovely days on the West Coast, we were lucky enough to spot this guy on the way home...
Always nice to get away, meet new people, see new things...and take two hundred and eighty four photos :-)

We found keas at the Otira lookout in the pouring rain - did you stop there??? Fab photos Trace. :)

glad you had a great get away!!!
Looks like you all had a fab time, despite the bad start with the weather.. Great photo's Trace.
Yay, so glad you had a lovely time on the West Coast (and decided to go there). Did M & G enjoy the Pancake Rocks? Maureen looks rather wet and cold in those photos! That's a gorgeous photo of you sitting on the park bench. And yes, you can definitely tell that Lyall and Garth are related. There's such a strong family resemblance. Sorry you had rain but I'm glad you also had some sunshine. A bit like our South Island holiday! I must blog about that soon.
Jolly weather but looks like you made the most of it. Super photos. Especially like the one of you in the blue dress. That colour looks stunning on you.
oh dear bummer about the weather! Love the photos you have taken, the ones of the ferns are just stunning!! and the one of you that looks amazing!
