From the shaky isles...

As we travelled along Main North Road (which is really State Highway One), we had to slam on our brakes, we couldn’t quite see why the cars in front of us had stopped…and then we see a black shape dart across the other side of the road, and then back again, (I was in the median strip now lol) and backwards and forwards again. You know I can’t leave an animal in danger, I was after it, another lady had stopped her car and trailer in the middle of the lane and jumped out, she was after it, a truckie stopped the traffic and fortunately the dog took off down a long driveway, where the lady who had jumped out of her car, and I, managed to catch him.

Donna had to find somewhere to turn and I had to try and hang on to the beastie, - some kind motorist threw an old lead out their window at me, so that helped a lot. Long story short, he came home with us, so we could hunt down his owners.

Fast forward to the evening and they had got home to their property, to find windows open, curtains trashed, chickens inside…had we been burgled they wondered? And where’s Moses? Turns out clever Moses, at only seven months old, had figured out how to open a window, and he hopped in and out a few times, and the chickens saw an opportunity to check out the inside of the house lol. His owners scoured the neighbourhood before ringing the council. We had rung the council so they had our details (along with listing on TM, petsonthenet, emergency vet etc). One very happy and relieved owner, and very happy us. Dan, Archie and Moses had a wonderful time together. Darcy of course was as jealous as buggery and we had to lock her in another room and Tui was freaked out by this visitor and she was locked in a room too! But just look at his photo – how cute is he!

Look, I’ve actually been creating. Two layouts. Not quite caught up to my twinnies, twenty six for this month. I might manage that for the year LOL. The first one is for SP’s sketch challenge, though it’s ended up in the wrong folder in the gallery on SP. The other one is for this new challenge blog.

Janine had a list of winter goals, and I thought that this was such a good idea. At the beginning of this year I nabbed the hometown list idea off Mandy. Since my hometown is a little munted at the moment, there’s not too much on my hometown list I can do – I must go back and check that list – I wonder if some of those places no longer exist? So I’m thinking about my winter goals.

o I want to scrap at least ten layouts. I was going to put six, and then remembered I’ve booked into Heidi’s six layouts class. Ha ha, now I only have to do four more to make that total. That’s a winner LOL.
o I want to clean out all the drawers and cupboards in the kitchen – they need a good declutter.
o Start trawling through House and Garden’s etc and formulate how we want to update our house.

Not much really…but other things have a habit of getting in the way at the moment, so I’m keeping these manageable. Well that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it…:-)

Our home is never empty. Last Sunday Dad and Pat headed off to travel around this fair island of ours and this week we have a friend of Lyalls here. He could shift in permanently lol. He doesn’t drink or smoke, I’ve yet to hear him swear, he does the dishes, makes his bed and he even helped fix the door on the chicken coop and used the post hole borer to make holes for our carport to go up. Soon he’ll move into a rental property and then sell his own property. After he’s gone, it’s the Swannanoa Retreat and then July school holidays are nearly here and my cousin and her family will be down for a few days.

Can you spot Darcy in this photo?

One of our sunsets this week, thanks to a bit of volcanic ash.

Oh and belated birthday greetings to my lovely sister in law. Last Saturday I sent her a text wishing her happy birthday - and then quickly realised I was a week to early. This week I'm a day to late. And yes, she scrapbooks too lol.

Have a good week people. Fellow Cantab’s may our week be less shaky than last week…
