Happy Easter everyone.
We’ve been lucky enough to have my lovely nephew (you may have seen him feature in one or three hundred or so layouts lol), come and spend the weekend, along with his girlfriend Lavinia.
They arrived on Thursday, and on Friday we had planned to head on up to Hanmer, for a looksee and a dip in the pools. However, he arrived with a good dose of a cold, achy body, stuffed up nose etc, so one, we didn’t want to share his germs, and two, he was in no fit state for that plan. Instead we spent some of the day driving around Christchurch, so that both them and us could see the earthquake damage first hand. Lyall of course, due to his work as often been in the thick of it, but Donna and I hadn’t been near town or the badly hit suburbs. Once again the randomness of it really hits you – one street badly damaged, but the cul de sac off it, untouched… A friend of ours whose a civil engineer had checked out a block of fifteen retirement village/units – fourteen of them write off’s – one completely untouched – not a crack to be seen anywhere. But would you want to stay in that one? The afternoon was spent with us all having nana naps…
Saturday and we headed out to Akaroa, which was packed. There were a couple of markets on and we had a nice day wandering around, and a lovely lunch at one of the restaurants out there. We didn’t get home till nearly six, which meant the dogs got a walk by torchlight lol. Lyall had stayed home, but hadn’t thought about walking them lol.
Sunday and Russell was feeling a lot better. We toddled up to the market at Oxford and then for a drive out to Ashley Gorge, before Pukeko Junction for lunch and a visit to Pegasus township on the way home. As we drove through Rangiora Russ asked us to stop so he could get a Property Press…LOL.
Of course no trip to Christchurch is complete without visiting the dog park. It’s on the top ten list ROFL. Well it is in our household anyway! They absolutely loved it there – as Lavinia said “you can just feel the immense joy” as the dogs hooned around, and swum in the river…
Last week saw me catch up with Vicki, and I managed to get one layout finished – for one of our twinnie challenges – which was to enter into a challenge blog that we wouldn’t usually enter. So this one’s for Birds of a Feather. While it was taken from their sketch, it’s also very much inspired by Ingvild – I loved the way she used the frame, so lifted that idea. I think she had just a tad more Prima on her layout than me though
The other layouts were for my local scrapbooking shop and have done their job, so have now come back home.
Have a good week everyone.

sounds like a few fun days out!!
love those layouts too....
Well, it sounds like a really lovely weekend. Hamner is nice, but probably wouldn't be much fun with a cold, so nice idea to stay home and do day trips.
I WISH we had a dog park here like the one you guys go to! It sounds awesome! Buddy is getting better off leash but it is still a bit risky to let him off in our park (which is an official "dog exercise area") as he will run off if he sees something interesting, like another dog! A dog park that's fenced off would be fabulous for him, and would certainly help with the training. We are making progress, but it's a bit touch and go, hehe. Maybe I should start a petition or something for them to make a dog park here?
Gorgeous layouts as well :-)
Ummm Trace - Bird is the WORD!!! ROFL. Am surprised you having been sending Russell all the Property mags up to now. LOL
Stunning layouts Tracey - happy easter to you all.
